Antey Group of Companies supported the whale rescue operation in Teriberka
What happened?
In early June, tourists who went on a boat trip near the village of Teriberka (Murmansk region) discovered a whale entangled in ropes in the Barents Sea. It turned out to be a humpback whale, listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation. A few days later, the story received widespread federal publicity because the rope was preventing the whale from feeding. Rescuers from Sakhalin, environmentalists, social activists and the region’s tourism community were brought in to help.
What kind of help?
Tatyana Efremova, a local tour operator, contacted the Antey North company with a request to provide sea buoys to help with work in open water. In fishing, they are used to determine the location of fishing gear.
These products are not produced in Russia, they can only be purchased abroad, and help to save the whale was needed immediately.
In the interview, Tatyana talks about the progress of the operation, what an important role the buoys played and about the whale rescue center, which will urgently need such a technical base.
