Fresh frozen crab was sent from Murmansk to Korea via Vladivostok for the first time

About 418 tons of fresh frozen crab were sent from Murmansk to Busan via Vladivostok. The Antey group sent a unique cargo by train from the Murmansk sea fishing port in refrigerated containers of the Dalreftrans company (part of the FESCO Transport Group). This is the first time this route for delivering crab from the North to Asia has been used.

Over the past two years, the experience of the Antey group of companies has become advanced: the holding has mastered transportation by the Northern Sea Route, road, rail and air transport. New logistics routes open a direct corridor between Murmansk and crab purchasing countries and allow for uninterrupted supplies of products in a fairly short time.

“Now the time has come to develop a new route – direct shipment of a specially dedicated train with crab products by rail. “Antey Sever” initiated this project, which is being implemented thanks to the coordinated work of our services, the Murmansk Sea Fishing Port and the FESCO Transport Group,” said Antey Sever General Director Yuri Bakalyar. “The new route will allow us to significantly reduce delivery time and give us much more freedom in planning deliveries.”

At the Murmansk sea fishing port, 27 forty-foot refrigerated containers were loaded with frozen crab products. Next, the containers were placed on fitting platforms as part of a freight train and sent from Murmansk to Vladivostok.

“This event is unique in that it is the first export shipment of refrigerated containers with crab from the Murmansk sea fishing port to the Republic of Korea through the Far East as part of end-to-end intermodal transportation. Our plans are to expand cooperation with Antey Group of Companies and MMRP in order to successfully work out the crab fishing season, which lasts from March to June, and to make such export shipments from Murmansk to the countries of East and Southeast Asia regular. The experience is new for the region – we hope that in the near future we will be able to expand the range of transported products,” said Andrey Grechkin, General Director of Dalreftrans.

At the Vladivostok sea trade port, refrigerated containers will be reloaded onto a ship of the FESCO Transport Group, which will head to Busan as part of the regular sea line FESCO Korea Express. Travel time will be about 30 days.

“This is the first railway service with refrigerated containers in the history of the port, and we hope that it will develop and be filled with additional volumes. In addition, this service significantly expands the range of port services provided to fishing companies, which increases the competitiveness and attractiveness of the port. Containerization of technological processes is one of the most important areas in the development of multisectoral enterprises and this project allows us to reach a new level in this development,” emphasized Andrey Borodin, General Director of MMRP JSC.
