CHATKA expands its range and presence on the Russian market

A new line of CHATKA crab products licensed by FKP Soyuzplodoimport was presented at the VI GLOBAL FISHERY FORUM & SEAFOOD EXPO RUSSIA exhibition

The copyright holder of the CHATKA trademark – FKP Soyuzplodoimport and LLC Trading House ERC, part of the Antey Group, one of the leading crab producers in Russia, announced the start of production of a new retail line of premium crab products CHATKA.

The expanded product line under the CHATKA brand was developed specifically for the Russian market and includes several types of canned, boiled-frozen and fresh-frozen crab products. During production, a progressive method of product sterilization using a hyperbaric unit is used.

The new line of CHATKA crab products was first presented at the largest exhibition of the fishing industry, seafood and technology VI Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia 2023, which was held from September 27 to 29 as part of the International Fishery Forum in St. Petersburg, and aroused great interest from the professional community, participants and guests of the exhibition.

CHATKA is the world’s most famous brand of crab products, which gained fame back in the mid-twentieth century, synonymous with the quality of crab and the standard of a unique crab taste that can satisfy the requirements of the most sophisticated gourmets.

Soviet Russia began large-scale crab production in Kamchatka in 1928. By 1932, 11 Soviet crab canning ships were already engaged in the extraction and processing of crab. The products were mainly exported. CHATKA canned crab was an incredible success abroad and for a long time became a symbol of crab products throughout the world. Meanwhile, in their homeland – the USSR, CHATKA crabs have long established themselves in the niche of delicacies – products “for the elite”. Only a few residents of the Soviet Union managed to “get” a jar of the famous CHATKA canned food for the holiday.

After more than 90 years, the truly legendary CHATKA returns to domestic consumers in an updated design and presents a new product range. In the near future, Russian consumers will be able to touch the legend and try premium products made from selected Kamchatka crab caught in the Far East, as well as products from first-class opilio crab meat from Murmansk.

“CHATKA is a legend of the domestic fishing industry, which is rightfully considered the standard of quality for crab products throughout the world. We are glad that, together with our partners from the Antey group of companies, we were able to expand the range of high-quality crab meat on the Russian market, offering the domestic consumer a new interpretation of the legendary brand,” said Alexey Maklakov, General Director of FKP Soyuzplodoimport.

“Today, crabs are in great demand all over the world; the taste of crab meat is especially appreciated by residents of Asia. Our task is to return crabs caught in the northern and Far Eastern seas to the Russian market. CHATKA in Soviet times was a famous but hard-to-find product; today we maintain the premium quality of the delicacy, but make it accessible to residents of Russia,” said Ivan Mikhnov, president of Antey Group.
